Nissan GTR Experiences

When the Nissan GT-R was released for mass consumption in 2008 auto makers everywhere trembled in their respective footwear. The performance that this machine produced was nothing short of amazing. Nissan GT-R Experience Days

The engine that propels this impressive behemoth is a 3.8 litre V6 that has been upgraded from 485 horsepower to a whopping 530 HP. Those numbers are scary enough to throw all sense to the back of your head as the car accelerates to 60 miles per hour in only 2.9 seconds. A six speed, semi-automatic transmission is at the driver's fingertips, paired with an all-wheel drive transmission that provides grip like no other setup can fathom. These numbers are so ridiculous that they can hardly be believed, and surely it will take a butt in the seat, hands on the wheel, and foot on the power to truly realize the potential that these figures represent.

A track pack is available in the UK, which adds even more ability to this destroyer of pavement. The body styling is changed a bit in the front and rear, near the wheel wells, to add additional air flow to each set of discs. These cooling ducts allow the operating temperature of the brakes to drop as much as 100 degrees during track days. Additionally, the Track Pack adds improved suspension response for use on the raceway. The front seats are fitted with a material that solidly grips the driver, and the rear seats are removed to save weight.

In every 2012 model, bracing is added in the engine compartment to stabilize the firewall and tone down vibrations that occur on the body. This structural support also gives added thrill to the the drive because of its ability to reduce sway from side to side. The drag coefficient has been lowered from 0.27 to 0.26, helping the improvements in fuel efficiency, acceleration, and top speed.

Every detail here, both large and small, adds to the Nissan GT-R driving experience. This year, drivers will be thankful for every improvement as they tear down the track, slalom, or motorway and feel their whole body pressed up against the back of the well-formed seats.
